Thinking about applying to Brown pre-college summer program!
Brown University is perhaps most famous for its Open Curriculum and the freedom and opportunity that it provides students for charting their own academic journeys. Unlike colleges with a more structured academic curriculum (see Columbia University, St. John’s College, and University of Chicago), Brown provides optimal academic flexibility to the right type of student.
The International Students Resources website provides links and information to support services and offers a view of what you can expect as an international student at Brown. There is not a separate application for international applicants. Please complete the application appropriate to your status as an incoming first-year or transfer student.
We ask all first-year applicants to complete the Common Application and Brown Member section online. Please refer to How To Apply before beginning the application process. You will find Brown's essay questions there. Early Decision If Brown is your first choice and you would definitely accept an offer of admission if admitted, you may choose our Early Decision plan.
My son attended Summer at Brown last year. It was a last minute decision and we didn't apply until the end of May. He found out he was accepted mid-June. There was no essay, but they did ask for a high school transcript and I think the school had to send it out. As long as you aren't a mediocre student and can pay, they will accept you.
Brown’s Literary Arts concentration provides the opportunity for students to place an emphasis on creative writing and will allow (and encourage) me to channel my passion for poetry into academia. Buoyed by my experience as the founder and president of our school’s Poetry Club, I plan to enroll in the Honors for Creative Writing program to satisfy my perpetual craving for remarkable.
Every summer, Summer Session offers approximately two dozen courses from academic disciplines across the university. Successful Summer Session students leverage their experiences to demonstrate their ability to succeed in college, and have the potential to receive college credit for the coursework at Carnegie Mellon and other institutions that accepts the credit.
